India Mark’s compositions conjure up everyday inanimate objects into a landscape of beauty hallmarked by colour soaked light, texture and the thoughtful placement of objects.<\/p>\n

“Stylistically I think my paintings are preoccupied with space, surface and luminosity. Usually they are compositionally minimal, even though a painting doesn\u2019t always start out that way. I paint over a lot of original subject matter to make room for space, or to emphasize the impact of another object or shadow.”<\/p>\n

Born in 1993 in Gerringong, NSW, Australia, in 2012 she commenced her studies in Fine Art at the ANU School of Art which she completed at the National Art School in 2015. Mark graduated with a Master of Fine Art in painting from the National Art School in 2018.<\/p>\n

In 2012, Mark was awarded the Foundation for Visual Arts Scholarship at the ANU. In 2016 and 2018 she was a finalist in the Archibald Prize, and in 2017 and 2018, a finalist in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship Award. She has exhibited in solo and group shows since 2014. Her work is currently included in the collections of The National Art School and The Wollongong Art Gallery.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
